Terms of Service

These Terms cover your use of AutoDesign ("we", "us", "our") — our website and the web app for structural design and analysis (together, the "app"). By making an account or using the app, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the app. We've kept this plain, the same way we did the privacy policy.

The short version

• AutoDesign is a beta tool that helps you do engineering work — it doesn't replace you.
• Check every result yourself. You're responsible for what you do with the output.
• Your designs are yours. The app is ours.
• It's free during beta, and there's no warranty.
• You can stop using it whenever you like.

You check the work (the important part)

AutoDesign is a tool. It runs calculations and produces drawings to help an engineer, but it does not make engineering decisions, does not apply professional judgment, and is not itself a licensed engineer. While in beta especially, it can be wrong.

Before you rely on anything the app produces, you must independently check and verify the inputs, assumptions, calculations, and results against the governing codes (such as AISC and ACI), standards, and your project's requirements. A qualified, licensed professional has to review and take responsibility for any output that gets used in real design or construction.

Put simply: don't use AutoDesign as your only basis for a decision. If you skip the check, that's on you, not the app.

Who can use it

AutoDesign is meant for engineers and others authorized to do or check engineering work. You need to be old enough to enter a contract where you live. You can use it for your own engineering work, and you don't need our permission to use the results of that work.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself and make sure your account information is accurate. Anything done through your account is treated as done by you, so let us know right away if you think someone else has gotten in.

Fair use of the app

A few things we ask you not to do:

• Break the law or step on someone else's rights while using it.
• Resell access, or copy or rebuild the app to compete with us.
• Try to break, overload, or get around the app's security or limits.
• Pull it apart (reverse engineer, scrape) beyond what the law allows.
• Use it to spread malware or anything harmful or illegal.

Your designs and data

The inputs, models, and designs you create stay yours. We only use them to run the app for you — most of the calculation happens right in your browser, and files you save to a linked folder live on your device, as the Privacy Policy explains. We don't claim ownership of your work. Please keep your own backups of anything that matters, since we can't guarantee nothing will ever be lost during beta.

Our software

AutoDesign itself — the code, the calculation engines, the look, the name — belongs to us, and we keep all rights we don't clearly give you here. The app includes some open-source and third-party components that come with their own licenses; those licenses apply to those parts. If you send us feedback or ideas, we're free to use them to improve the product.

Cost (free during beta)

While AutoDesign is in beta it's free to use. On the free plan you may see ads served by Google AdSense (described in the Privacy Policy); signed-out visitors don't. If we introduce paid plans later, we'll show you the price and the terms before you ever pay, and you can decide then. Features and any future pricing may change as the product grows up.

No warranty

AutoDesign is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory — including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't promise the app or its calculations will be accurate, complete, error-free, uninterrupted, or secure. As above, every result needs to be verified by a qualified professional.

Our liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, we will not be liable for any damages of any kind arising out of or relating to the app or your use of it. This includes direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, and punitive damages, and damages for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or business interruption — whether the claim is based in contract, tort (including negligence), strict liability, or any other theory, and whether or not we were advised such damages were possible.

Because AutoDesign is an engineering aid and not a licensed engineer, we are specifically not liable for any loss, cost, injury, death, property damage, or other harm arising from structural failures, code or standard non-compliance, errors or omissions in the calculations, analyses, or drawings the app produces, construction defects, or any design or decision made in reliance on the app — including where a result was used without first being independently checked and verified by a qualified, licensed professional as described above. You accept sole responsibility for that verification and for the use of any output.

If, despite the above, we are found liable for anything, our total liability for all claims relating to the app will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the prior 12 months or USD $100. Some places don't allow some of these limits or exclusions, so parts may not apply to you; where a limit can't be fully enforced, it applies to the maximum extent permitted.

You also agree to cover us for claims and costs (including reasonable legal fees) that come from your use of the app, your content, your breaking these Terms, or your relying on output without the professional check described above.

Stopping

You can stop using AutoDesign and delete your account anytime. We may suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if the law requires it, or if it's needed to protect the app or other users. The parts that should naturally outlast your use — about our software, the no-warranty and liability limits, and your cover for us — keep applying afterward.

Changes

As AutoDesign evolves, we may update the app and these Terms. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll flag meaningful changes in the app or by email. If you keep using the app after a change, that means you accept the updated Terms.
